While every day is an opportunity, this is a week where we celebrate women and their perseverance. The collective spirit of breaking boundaries and limiting beliefs, dropping deep rooted conditioning, and going beyond yesterday.
This is a great week to reflect, rebuild and rise. From today to the 8th of March, Women’s Day, I will be sharing a few learnings that would guide women to shine brighter and become a light of inspiration for others as well.
There was a girl who was given education and was given the opportunity to become financially independent. She valued it so much that she toiled, gave her best. She also felt indebted for the opportunity and wanted to keep proving worthy of it, work harder for her family, her colleagues, her manager, her teams. She was content with average roles that came her way and she did not get to choose them, the salary she made even if it was way below other peers, and the struggle of juggling everything to be the best at home front and at work. Years went by. She continued to work harder than most others, for her family and her company. She was great at work and home, her dedication and commitment at both ends, unparalleled.
But at the end of her life, she realised one thing that she missed thinking about. And that was herself.
This is the story of many women who put everyone and everything before themselves. Maybe it is good time to change that a little bit without a feeling of guilt? Self, matters too. Be inclusive of yourself. Choose your career and growth intentionally. Choose to take care of yourself.
A good start would be to take a moment to think and list what do I aspire to achieve professionally and personally? What makes ME happy?
Feel energized at the thought itself? Great!
Now break these goals into smaller milestones and go for it! Celebrate each milestone, become more, because YOU matter.
Happy Women’s Week. Make it matter!
